In a major step towards enhancing educational standards, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has partnered with Cambridge University Press and Assessment’s (CUPA) International Education Division to offer Cambridge qualifications in four government schools in Islamabad Capital Territory. The agreement was formalized during a visit by CUPA Group Managing Director Rod Smith and his delegation, who met with Federal Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
Dr. Siddiqui commended Cambridge for its impactful role in improving education for Pakistani youth and encouraged the institution to expand its contributions. He stressed the need for stronger assessment capabilities, greater transparency, and active collaboration within the education sector to raise overall standards.
Education Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani outlined the initiative’s framework, which introduces Cambridge Lower Secondary, IGCSE, and A-Level qualifications at four schools: Islamabad Model College for Girls F-6/2, Islamabad Model College for Boys G-6/3, Islamabad Model College for Boys F-8/3, and Islamabad Model College for Girls F-8/1.
The MoU aims to elevate education quality by offering students internationally recognised credentials, aligning them with global academic and career opportunities. Alongside curriculum implementation, the project focuses on training teachers to effectively deliver Cambridge programs, ensuring a transformative learning experience for students.
This collaboration sets a new benchmark for government schools in Pakistan, providing students with the tools to excel in a competitive global landscape.
