In a major step towards educational empowerment, Punjab’s government has officially launched the laptop distribution for high-achievers, starting today in Lahore. The first ceremony is being held at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, where top-performing students from public universities and colleges will receive brand-new laptops.
Punjab Minister for Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat, announced the launch in an official handout, describing it as the fulfillment of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s longstanding promise to support academic excellence through technology. He revealed that similar laptop distribution ceremonies will take place across all divisions of the province in the coming days.
Highlighting the scope of the program, the minister stated that 110,000 laptops equipped with modern specifications are being distributed to students from public sector higher education institutions. He said the laptop distribution for high-achievers aims to bridge the digital divide and equip the youth with tools essential for modern learning and innovation.
Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will personally attend and oversee ceremonies in each division, reinforcing the administration’s hands-on commitment to uplifting students. “This is not just a promise—it’s delivery. The PML-N doesn’t make hollow commitments; we turn words into action,” he declared.
He also noted that these laptops will enable students to access e-learning platforms, conduct research, and build digital skills that are critical for academic and career advancement. According to the minister, the laptop distribution for high-achievers is part of a broader vision to create a knowledge-based economy in Punjab where education meets innovation.
