The Sindh School Education Department has instructed all district education officers (DEOs) to return surplus textbooks to the Sindh Textbook Board (STBB). The directive, issued by Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, aims to streamline book distribution, reduce wastage, and prevent illegal sales.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to assess actual textbook needs, improve supply chain transparency, and maintain accountability. District officials are also tasked with submitting a detailed report of book distribution over the past three years. Additionally, book banks are to be activated in schools, promoting sustainability by ensuring books are reused and shared effectively.
Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, highlighted the importance of long-term planning for the growing enrollment in government schools and the increasing costs of printing textbooks. Encouraging teachers to guide students in preserving books for future use, the initiative also promotes environmental responsibility while ensuring that textbooks are available for the following academic sessions.
