The Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, visited the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), meeting with Rector NUML, Major General (r) Shahid Mehmood Kayani, to discuss deepening educational and cultural ties between China and Pakistan. The focus of their discussion was on expanding academic partnerships and strengthening language as a vital link between the two nations.
Chinese Ambassador Jiang, accompanied by NUML’s Director General, Brig Shahzad Munir, watched with admiration as students showcased their linguistic abilities and performed cultural pieces celebrating Chinese traditions and the heritage of Gilgit-Baltistan. Commending NUML’s dedication to promoting Chinese language and cultural awareness, the Ambassador thanked the university’s leadership for fostering an atmosphere of cross-cultural exchange.
In an interactive question-and-answer session with the students, Ambassador Jiang emphasized resilience and persistence as essential qualities for success. “True fulfillment lies in overcoming challenges through hard work,” he said, encouraging the students to pursue their educational goals with unwavering dedication.
Optimistic about Pakistan’s future, Ambassador Jiang highlighted the country’s young and dynamic population, strategic location, and vast resources. He noted Pakistan’s recent economic recovery, citing GDP growth that rose from a negative position to 2.5%, with further progress expected in the coming year.
“Pakistan holds a promising position as a major player in Asia’s future,” he stated, reinforcing the significance of China-Pakistan cooperation, particularly through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which he described as a symbol of their strong partnership. Ambassador Jiang also shared various initiatives aimed at empowering Pakistani youth, including scholarships, internships, and exchange programs, all designed to provide Pakistani students with opportunities to engage with Chinese enterprises and broaden their career prospects.
The visit marked a memorable day at NUML, as students, inspired by Ambassador Jiang’s vision, expressed their enthusiasm for contributing to Pakistan’s development and strengthening the bond between the two nations.
