Chitral Celebrates Academic Excellence with Scholarships and Iqra Awards

Exceptional students from Lower Chitral’s district-level matriculation examinations were honored with Scholarships and Iqra Awards at a ceremony held on Sunday. Organized by Qari Faizullah Chitrali, a renowned religious scholar and administrator of Imam-e-Muhammad Madrassa, Karachi, the event took place at the Commerce College Hall in Lower Chitral.

Deputy Commissioner Mohsin Iqbal graced the occasion as the chief guest, with District Education Officer Mahmood Ghaznavi serving as the guest of honor. Maulana Khaleequz Zaman Kakakhel, Imam of Shahi Mosque and coordinator of the Iqra Awards, oversaw the event, which was attended by students, educators, civil society members, and education department officials.

In the government school category, top honors included:

  • Seema Syed (Government High School, Sonoghur): First Prize of Rs50,000
  • Sanaullah (Kohozaee School): Second Prize of Rs40,000
  • Junaid Ahmad (High School, Balach): Third Prize of Rs30,000

For private institutions, the winners were:

  • Taskeen Qayyum (Langland School): First Prize
  • Hama Syed (Langland School): Second Prize
  • Syed Masood (Iqbal Model School): Third Prize

Additionally, Rubina Bibi, from the Kalash tribe, received a special award of Rs20,000, recognizing her academic achievements. The prestigious Iqra Award was presented to Qari Abdur Rahman Qureshi for his remarkable contributions to promoting religious education.

DC Mohsin Iqbal and DEO Mahmood Ghaznavi commended the students’ achievements and acknowledged the crucial role of their teachers. They also lauded Qari Faizullah Chitrali for his dedication to education and community welfare, describing his efforts as a model of inspiration for remote areas like Chitral.

The ceremony not only celebrated academic excellence but also highlighted the transformative power of education in shaping futures, particularly in underserved regions.
