The City University of Science and Information Technology (CUSIT), Peshawar, organized a psychosocial resilience support in Bajaur through a dedicated camp at the Khar headquarters of the tribal district. This initiative aimed to promote peace, mental well-being, and community strength among marginalized groups.
According to a press release issued on Sunday, the psychosocial resilience support in Bajaur was hosted at the Hujra (male guest house) of local notable Mateehullah Khan. The camp formed part of the “Community Resilience Building for Countering Violent Extremism Project,” funded by the European Union in partnership with the National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
The organizers stated that the camp served as a vital platform for community engagement, highlighting the importance of mental wellness and emotional strength in countering violent ideologies. The event featured a counselling session led by Dr Tuba Shahzadi, a psychologist and assistant professor at CUSIT. She provided practical guidance on mental health, stress management, and resilience-building strategies for the local participants.
The psychosocial resilience support in Bajaur reflects CUSIT’s ongoing efforts to strengthen social cohesion and mental health awareness in post-conflict zones. Held under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Engr Dr Nasrullah Khan, the initiative concluded with the distribution of appreciation gifts to attendees as a symbolic gesture of recognition and support.
This initiative is a testament to the university’s mission to contribute to a peaceful, inclusive, and progressive society through education, psychological services, and sustainable community development.
