The 5th convocation of Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) was held in its auditorium. Punjab Governor and Chancellor of the university Muhammad Baligh Ur Rahman graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Punjab Health Minister Punjab Prof Dr Javed Akram and Secretary of Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi graced the occasion as Guests of Honour. Vice Chancellors, Principals and Professors from different Public and Private educational institutions also participated in the convocation. Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof Dr Khalid Masud Gondal along with the faculty welcomed the Distinguished Guests. Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Kamran Khalid Khawaja, Registrar Prof Muhammad Nadeem, Principal Prof Noreen Akmal, Director QEC Prof Dr Bilquis Shabbir, Deans Prof Munazza Iqbal, Prof Abdul Hameed Prof Naveed Akbar Hotyana, Heads of Departments, a large number of university faculty were also present on.
Principal Professor Noreen Akmal took oath from Undergraduate Students while Registrar Prof Muhammad Nadeem took oath from Postgraduate Students.
In the welcome address, Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Masud Gondal thanked the Governor and distinguished guests and highlighted the healthcare services of the FJMU. He said that all three Constituent Hospitals of Fatima Jinnah Medical University are playing an important role in serving ailing humanity.Addressing the students, he said that the motto of your life should be to serve your Parents, Teachers and Patients, it will make you successful in this world and hereafter. Instead of making money, make your world and the hereafter successful by serving ailing humanity. He also requested the Governor for the construction of a new Auditorium and new Operation Theatres.He thanked the current Government of Punjab for the inauguration of the New Block of Fatima Jinnah Girls Hostel and released funds for the construction of a swimming pool and sports complex.
Health Minister Punjab Prof Dr Javed Akram thanked all the distinguished guests and admired the services of the faculty of Fatima Jinnah Medical University. He asked students to do more research on providing better and better healthcare facilities to their patients and announced the construction of a new “Kashmir Auditorium” in the university.
Punjab Governor Baligh Ur Rahman thanked the Minister of Health Punjab Prof Dr Javed Akram, Secretary of Health Department Punjab Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi, Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Masood Gondal and all the renowned guests. He said that Graduates are our valuable asset and their success is the success of this country and humanity. He said Medical Profession is a very prestigious profession, it has often been seen that people who are only engaged in making money, say at the end of their lives that they have wasted their lives and those who spend their time in the service of humanity are people who are honoured along with Live a good life. The governor thanked all the participants and congratulated the undergraduate and postgraduate students and their parents for this achievement. He also appreciated the exemplary services of the Vice Chancellors of all the universities for the rehabilitation of flood-affected areas.
On the occasion of the convocation, Dr Fakhira Anwar, Dr Ayesha Arshad, Dr Rimzah Tahir, Dr Riffat Shaheen, Dr Ume Iman, Dr Fathima Mujahida Ahmed Munawwar, Dr Imbsat Naeem, Dr Ayesh Azeem, Dr Noor Ul Ain, Dr Kashaf Ul Zuha, Dr Anam Zaka, Dr Arfa Arooj and Dr Rida Fatima were awarded Gold Medals for their Best Performance.
Dr Fakhira Anwar won the gold medal for the Best Graduate for the session 2016-2021. In the convocation, Degrees were distributed among a total of 294 students, including 285 Undergraduate students and nine Postgraduate students.On behalf of FJMU, Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Masud Gondal presented honorary shields to the Governor, the Health Minister and the Secretary of Specialized Healthcare.
