Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan hosted a heartfelt ceremony in the provincial capital to celebrate the achievements of street children enrolled at (Alkhidmat Foundation) AK Child Protection Centres, recognizing their journey from the streets to school life.
During the event, children from seven (Alkhidmat Foundation) AK Child Protection Centres were gifted school bags, stationery, uniforms, and shoes—symbolizing their entry into the formal education system. These centers aim to provide not just education, but also restore dignity and joy to marginalized children.
Alkhidmat Foundation’s Vice President Syed Ihsanullah Waqas addressed the gathering, revealing that nearly 1.3 million street children exist in Pakistan. He blamed this crisis on state neglect and societal indifference. “(Alkhidmat Foundation) AK Child Protection Centres are our response to this crisis—offering children an opportunity to reclaim their lost childhood and build a future,” he said.
He explained that the centres host children like rag pickers, domestic workers, and workshop helpers for two hours daily, where they learn basic literacy, hygiene, manners, and participate in recreational activities. The event also saw the participation of Dr Ahmad Jibran, Alkhidmat’s National Director of Education, and various educators and social leaders.
