In compliance with the orders of the Islamabad High Court, the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) held a re-examination of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for 2024 on Monday. This decision followed complaints received from candidates regarding the initial test conducted on September 22.
The re-test was held at 27 centers across multiple locations, including 25 centers in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Gilgit-Baltistan, Mirpur, as well as international locations in Dubai (UAE) and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). Over 12,000 candidates participated, with 10,428 appearing in Islamabad, 629 in Mirpur, 447 in Muzaffarabad, 400 in Rawalakot, 329 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 211 in Rawalpindi, and 124 internationally (64 in Riyadh and 60 in Dubai).
To uphold the integrity of the examination process, SZABMU, with technical support from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), implemented advanced security measures including biometric verification, real-time monitoring, and strict invigilation protocols. PMDC officials were present at test centers, with President Prof. Rizwan Taj personally overseeing the centers in Islamabad to ensure compliance with all regulations.
The PMDC assured all stakeholders, including students, parents, and institutions, that results for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test would be processed swiftly and posted on SZABMU’s website. The council emphasized that the MDCAT results would be announced soon and would facilitate the timely start of the medical and dental college admission process to prevent further delays.
SZABMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Tariq Iqbal also noted that the key for the undergraduate medical college entrance test had been uploaded on the university’s website. He praised the diligent efforts of the invigilators and the security teams, particularly the support from the police in Islamabad and surrounding areas, which helped ensure a safe environment for all candidates. Furthermore, he clarified that the results of the re-test would be valid for all candidates who had appeared in the first Medical and Dental College Admission Test held in October 2024, as per the court’s instructions. The integrity of the MDCAT process was maintained throughout, ensuring fairness for all students.
