A significant ceremony was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office to mark the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the introduction of technical education in religious madrasas. The event was attended by prominent figures, including Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed, Tevta Chairman Brig (retd) Sajid Khokhar, Tevta Punjab Director General Amir Aziz, and several religious leaders and community figures, such as Maulana Saeed Ahmed Siddiqui, Mian Umar Saleem, and Mufti Shaban Qadri.
Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed announced that computer labs and technical training facilities had been established in four male madrasas—Darul Uloom Naqshbandia, Jamia Nusrat Uloom, Jamia Qasimia, and Jamia Jafariya—and three female madrasas—Jamia Muhammadia, Jamia Qasimia, and Tanzeemul Islam Education Centre. These madrasas will offer six-month technical courses for students, a significant step towards integrating technical education in religious madrasas and bridging the gap between religious and modern learning. He emphasized the goal of expanding this initiative to 100 madrasas in the future.
Brig (retd) Sajid Khokhar praised the launch of the project in Gujranwala, calling it a pioneering and exemplary effort in introducing technical education in religious madrasas. He highlighted Tevta’s existing programs, including providing technical education to prisoners to help them reintegrate as productive members of society.
Mian Umar Saleem, former president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed full support for the initiative, promising collaboration between the Chamber and Tevta to further enhance technical education in religious madrasas and support its success.
