The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and TikTok signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate to promote digital safety in public schools in Pakistan under a multi-pronged approach.
The program includes comprehensive training programs and guidelines for teachers, parents and students through workshops, seminars, webinars, awareness videos, etc. to highlight the safe and appropriate use of social media and how to use it. Damages attributable to should be dealt with effectively and wisely. This partnership demonstrates PTA’s commitment to protect public interest in the digital realm.
Chairman PTA (PTA), Major General (retd) Hafeezur Rehman, Director General (Web Analytics Department) and Director General (Strategy and Development) as well as representatives of the Ministry of IT and Telecom, Joint Director Policy End Sector Growth and Director Internet Governance International were also present. Along with Fahad Khan Niazi, Head of Public Policy and Government Relations for Pakistan, Ms. Zara Basharat Higgs, Head of Public Policy Programs South Asia for Tik Tok was also present.
Speaking during the event, Chairman PTA said that PTA is committed to digital security. This partnership with TikTok is an important step by PTA towards a safer online environment through a leading social media platform.
This collaboration reflects the vision of both organizations to provide a safe digital environment where safety is paramount for all. There will be a movement to join Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to promote digital environment at the local level.
