Random Testing for COVID-19 resumed in KP

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) health authorities have resumed random testing for coronavirus infections in schools, the results of which will be analyzed in the meetings of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), following which a decision about the resumption of classes for the primary, middle and university levels will be taken. The higher secondary schools and colleges had resumed on-campus classes on Monday after a gap of one and a half months amidst the second wave of the pandemic. If the coronavirus situation remains under control, the primary to middle schools and the universities are expected to resume educational activities from 1 February. The province has recorded 210 new cases and eight fatalities owing to the coronavirus within the last 24 hours. Six of the deaths were in Peshawar and one each in Haripur and Bannu.So far, KP has recorded 63,825 cases, of which 58,348 have recovered. According to officials, 2,000 of these cases had been detected in the educational institutions before their closures on 26 November.
