In a move to uphold transparency and ensure fairness in the 2024 Matric First Annual Exams, Chairman of the Rawalpindi Educational Board, Muhammad Adnan Khan, has ordered an extensive inquiry into alleged marking discrepancies, following formal complaints from students. Acting on the advice of Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan, the Board aims to address issues of negligence and maintain integrity in the examination system.
The inquiry targets 435 marking personnel, including secrecy officers, head examiners, sub-examiners, assistants, special super checkers, board representatives, and data entry operators, who were involved in the marking process. The investigation was triggered by a series of written complaints from candidates during the re-checking process, with students reporting cases of alleged carelessness and incompetence. The inquiry committee, led by the Chief Secrecy Officer for Matric, has been tasked with a thorough review of each case, evaluating potential lapses in professionalism and accuracy.
Upon receiving the complaints, Controller Tanveer Asghar Awan promptly assembled the committee to investigate and submitted the matter to Chairman Muhammad Adnan Khan, who ordered disciplinary actions to address each allegation. The committee’s report recommended sanctions, ranging from official warnings and allowance deductions to disqualification from board duties for up to three years—or in severe cases, a lifetime ban from examination duties.
Chairman Khan and Controller Awan reiterated their commitment to maintaining high standards within the Board. They issued a joint statement emphasizing zero tolerance for negligence, underscoring that accountability is crucial to preserving the credibility of the examination system and delivering fair outcomes to all students.
This proactive response by the Rawalpindi Educational Board, is expected to reinforce trust among students and parents, demonstrating the Board’s commitment to an impartial and transparent examination process.
