PESHAWAR: Isotherm Inc., a Texas-based manufacturer renowned for producing specialized heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and packaged systems, has officially partnered with the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar. The two parties have signed a letter of agreement to establish a specialized Pressure Equipment Training Centre within the Mechanical Engineering Department at UET Peshawar.
This collaboration aims to offer hands-on training in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to students from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, focusing on applications relevant to the oil and gas, industrial refrigeration, and energy sectors.
Dr. Zahid Ayub, CEO of Isotherm Inc. and an alumnus of University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar’s Mechanical Engineering Department from the 1971 session, initiated the idea to give back to his alma mater. His vision for the centre is to empower local youth by equipping them with the technical expertise required to excel in high-demand industries. Dr. Ayub encourages other alumni working in influential sectors to engage with their universities, fostering deeper connections between academic institutions and the professional world.
Dr. Abdul Shakoor from the Mechanical Engineering Department played an instrumental role in setting the groundwork for the training centre, supported by Prof. Dr. Rizwan Gul, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical, Chemical, and Industrial Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Hamid Ullah, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, who provided crucial leadership in outlining the framework for the initiative.
The training centre will provide students with advanced technical skills and hands-on experience in CAD, delivered by international experts from Isotherm Inc. This partnership serves as a prime example of bridging the gap between academia and industry, offering students invaluable practical exposure to complement their theoretical knowledge.
The first batch of students will begin training in April 2024, with applications available online at https://petc.pk/. This new venture is set to significantly enhance students’ skill sets, preparing them to meet the challenges of a dynamic global workforce.
