In a strategic move to broaden its academic spectrum, the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) approved the introduction of 14 new programmes during its 236th Academic Council meeting held on Thursday. The key highlight of the session was the greenlighting of several undergraduate and doctoral initiatives under the banner of UET new academic programmes.
Chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Munir, the meeting brought together faculty deans, department heads, and administrative leaders. The Faculty of Natural Sciences, Humanities, and Islamic Studies presented innovative proposals including BS Islamic Studies in Computer Technology and BS English Language and Literature, now officially part of the UET new academic programmes.
The council also endorsed the creation of a dedicated Department of Mathematics at UET Faisalabad Campus, where a new BS Mathematics programme will commence. Additionally, PhD offerings in Data Science, Environmental Science, and Physical Therapy were also included in the expansion of UET new academic programmes.
Further approvals included BS degrees in high-demand areas like Business Data Analytics, Human Nutrition, Food Science, Material Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Engineering. In postgraduate education, MSc degrees in Climate Change, Material Science, and Chemical Engineering were added to the robust lineup of UET new academic programmes.
